Become a Fashionista in 2011 With These Designer Handbag Trends

In the world of fashion, 2011 will be the year of renaissance and renewal. At the same time, practicality and affordability will be vital because the economy is affecting all of us in many ways. This will undoubtedly result in the use of escapism as the overriding theme from the popular designer labels.

Structured Chaos

Structured Chaos is the combination of two trends into one. Whether it's masculinity mixed with femininity, or classic styles and textures with their futuristic counterparts, this trend will be hot this year because it's the best of both worlds.

One way this idea will be expressed is with the combination of tweed (masculinity) and silk (femininity) into a single handbag. An excellent example of this concept is seen in the winter collections of Burberry and Gucci. Both of these houses use their signature monograms as a backdrop, and then embellish with floral overlays or silk bows. This fusion will allow you to make a fashion statement with your bag, yet still be practical and wear it with multiple looks.

It's All In the Details

One of the trends that dominated the runways this season was the use of embellishment on purses. Details like chains, studs, sequins, fur, ruffles, and ruches were all over the place. The best way for you to bring these over-the-top adornments into your everyday style is with a metallic handbag. Whether it's silver, gold, or shiny red, metallic prints are perfect because they make your fashion pop without being garish.

Cultural Fusion

Whether it's neon fabrics from Valentino or pastels from Prada, the use of bright colors in designer handbags has been popular for a while now. However, the tribal flare represents a new twist on this popular concept. You can see this 2011 trend in the Bottega Veneta Tie-dye Napa Handbag which is woven with brown and tan fabrics, and adorned with fringes.

Another trend is the use of animal prints. We've been seeing the crocodile skin print from Hermes and the metallic snakeskin print from multiple fashion houses, but the newest trend is the use of unique and lesser-known animal prints. Dooney & Bourke for example uses leather giraffe skin in handbags for their winter collection. The important thing for you to note here is that these animal prints and tribal fabrics will show off your individuality, yet they are versatile at the same time.

Travel in Style

Designer luggage is an aspect of fashion that instantly elevates one's style status. Admit it, you always do a double take in the airport when you see someone walk by in the latest Gucci or Chanel travel gear. The greatest thing about designer travel gear is that the investment is well worth it. Why not spend a few extra dollars for a quality bag which is sure to last for years and years?
